Purple Stripe Variety: We don’t know a lot about this garlic. We understand that the name “Mexican Purple” is a generic term often assigned to colourful garlic in the southern U.S. Some believe this term is given to only Creole garlic, while others believe it can apply to colourful Purple Stripe varieties as well. We do know that it has thin, white skin with light purple to tan striped wrappers around medium sized cloves. Fairly mellow garlic taste when raw, but rich garlic flavour when cooked. We find that this variety tends to get spicier the longer it’s in storage.
